After a year off in 2016, Moonfest the magnificent charity music and family festival in Kendal is back and celebrating its 10th Birthday but also the last ever. Kendal Rugby Club will be moving to a new stadium, ground and clubhouse at Strawberry Fields off Oxenholme Road.
The doors open at 12pm Friday 12th finishing at 1am and on Saturday from 11am until 1am. During the day the festival is fun for the whole family with a kids zone, music, events, entertainment, food and beverages. There is also a chill-out zone “The Moon Garden”, fairground rides and festival merchandise.
As the evening draws closer on both evenings, the headline acts and DJ’s come out to play, a mixture of local and North West DJ’s playing everything from house to old skool.
Headlining on Friday will be Hot Red Chilli Peppers (tribute band) and on Saturday, Jeramiah Ferrari with acts of nearly every other genre to enjoy throughout the weekend.
Moonfest is held in the beautiful surroundings of Kendal, officially known as the Gateway to the Lake District. Moonfest takes places over two days, with a superb line-up of live music acts and entertainment. Taking to the stage this year are headliners Hot Red Chilli Peppers and Jeramiah Ferrari, a 4 piece Indie/Alt Rock/Reggae band from Manchester.
Through charging a small fee on the gate we have managed to attract close to 2,500 people some years and have raised figures up to £11,000. Last event’s proceeds were donated to the Wayne Broadley Trust Fund. Moonfest is a great weekend event.
The charity Moonfest continues to support is extremely close to the festival organisers and Kendal Rugby Club’s heart, the Wayne Broadley Trust Fund. At just 21 years old, Wayne was injured playing rugby at Kendal resulting in him being paralysed from the neck down. The trust fund helps him with equipment, physio and everything for day to day life.
